Therapeutic injections are a minimally invasive pain relief treatment commonly used to relieve the discomfort caused by inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and tendonitis. These injections provide direct treatment to the affected area, which offers more centralized relief and little to no side effects. They should be given only as needed because over time these injections can lead to a break-down of tissue.
These injections are typically given with local anesthetics such as lidocaine, which also functions as a pain reliever for the affected area until the corticosteroid begins to take effect.
